Who We Are

Who We Are

Saved Dogs & Sane Chicks is a grass-roots, foster-based rescue in Tomball, Texas. We believe that every dog deserves to have a safe and loving place to call home. Most of our animals enter our care because they haven't had someone to nurture or protect them. Our mission is to find a loving home and form bonds that will empower and transform both animals and adopters.

We believe that given the right care, protection, and love, dogs can flourish and form mutual bonds that can both save them from their circumstances and empower those who are willing to give them a nurturing home. Many dogs are often overlooked for reasons outside of their control and character. We create a haven where they can thrive and seek to find compassionate adopters who will appreciate and cherish their uniqueness.

What We Do

In a perfect world, every dog would have a safe, protected, and loving space to call home, but unfortunately, that isn’t reality. At Saved Dogs & Sane Chicks, we rescue dogs from backgrounds of abandonment, neglect, and abuse. Our priority is to ensure the well-being of every dog who enters our care by providing the necessary medical treatment, nutrition, and socialization. Out of responsibility for both animal and rescuer, we perform a thorough behavioral assessment and train, sometimes retraining, our dogs so that they can safely enter into their new environments with the necessary skills to assimilate positively.

We don’t operate like traditional animal shelters, where you choose a dog and off you go, we approach each adoption situation holistically so that it is a positive experience for all. By giving them the necessary aid and love that allows them to flourish, we give both rescuer and rescue the same high probability for a successful transition. Our mission is to set the stage for lasting companionship for both our animals and those who love them.

What We Believe in

Our name describes what we believe in. At Saved Dogs & Sane Chicks, we are guided by the belief that although it might appear that dogs need to be rescued, sometimes it isn’t just the animal that needs to feel safe and find acceptance, healing, and empowerment. Many rescues talk about how animals need homes, but don’t address that there are many adopters out there that will benefit greatly from the bonds formed with animals in need.

Animals can transform our lives the same way we transform theirs by providing unconditional love, support, and the kind of empowerment that comes with bonds that cannot be broken. Our mission, therefore, goes above and beyond the scope of trying to find a rescue home; we match animals in need of support with women who can, likewise, benefit from having “women’s best friends” at their side. Together, we believe we can transform lives, one paw at a time. Because we believe in partnering with our adoptees, our volunteers try to provide as much hand holding as you need so you are never in it alone. On the rare occasion that it just isn’t a healthy environment for everyone, we will do what it takes to rehome or find a better solution for you both.

Why Are We Named Saved Dogs & Sane Chicks?

Sometimes there can be a stigma about women and their passion and compassion for rescuing dogs. Just a "few" memes exist that highlight how “crazy” women can be in their efforts to help and save dogs in situations where rescue is needed. In response, we formed a quirky little rescue group.

It’s often said that the only thing crazier than the furry friends we save are the fabulous women who dedicate their lives to them. So, we thought, “What if we embrace the craziness, own it, and turn it into something crazy empowering?” Our name is a playful nod to the spirited and fearless women who dare to break a few boundaries in the name of saving our four-legged companions. We consider our community one that is for life formed to support rescue relationships and human connections. If loving the saving process is wrong, we don’t want to be right!

The next time you hear “Saved Dogs & Sane Chicks,” we want you to associate it not just with rescuing a dog, but also with joining a spirited community where we share love, laughter, and a little bit of delightful chaos! After all, who wouldn’t want to be a part of saving adorable pups while embracing their wonderful and unique quirks? Doing those things is what creates pawsitive vibes!
