On Saturday, we faced some devastating news from the vet—Bubba had chest tumors, and they urged us to consider putting him down that night. Heartbroken, we opted to take him home for his final days. On Sunday, our little warrior showed us he believed otherwise; he buried a bone for later!
And, we watched him (and sat with the diagnosis)-it didn’t make sense. We had hurried him to the vet for GI-related symptoms. How could these be caused by chest tumors (even though the vet had been emphatic)? Determined to get clarity, we reached out to his regular vet first thing Monday morning. Thankfully, she urgently reviewed all the images from the weekend and concluded that Bubba had a diaphragmatic hernia! He was rushed to Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists for surgery, and (drum roll please) he’s now recovering comfortably!
It turns out that ALL of his intestines were found to be in his chest cavity, and the hole in his hernia was closing up with scar tissue—explaining why nothing could get in or out. The incredible news? None of his intestines were compromised!
Now, Bubba is focusing on rest and recovery. We can confidently say he’s going to be absolutely fine, with a full, happy, and hoppy life ahead! Thank you all for your prayers and support during this rollercoaster ride!
