At SD&SC, we often encounter heartwarming stories of resilience and healing, but few tug at our heartstrings quite like Mija's. This sweet female pitbull-mix has endured more than her fair share of hardship, but thanks to our dedicated team and the support of our compassionate community, she's finally received the care she so desperately needed.
A Life of Struggle
Mija’s story began under tragic circumstances. A devoted mother, she had been through too many litters of puppies, many of whom were affected by parvovirus and tragically didn’t survive. The toll of motherhood—and the heartache of losing her young ones—has weighed heavily on her. With each new litter, Mija’s own health deteriorated, but she never lost her gentle spirit.
A Much-Needed Veterinary Visit
This week, Mija's journey took a significant turn. After much planning and coordination, we were able to schedule her long-awaited spay surgery. This procedure marked a pivotal moment, as she will no longer bear the burden of motherhood, allowing her to focus on her own healing and happiness.
During her veterinary visit, we discovered a severely infected wound around her neck— a cruel reminder of her past, the result of being hung on a fence. Thankfully, the wound was treated, and Mija was placed on antibiotics to aid her recovery.
A Loving Home
Currently, Mija is being lovingly cared for by one of our dedicated team members. In this safe environment, she can finally rest, heal, and enjoy a stress-free existence. For the first time in her life, she's no longer a mother but a cherished “baby.” Watching her relax and let her guard down has been nothing short of miraculous.
